🌮 Visiting downtown’s permanent taco trailer
Jaime Lopez operates the trailer at Lake and Minnehaha seven days a week.
Though surrounded by a mix of vacancy and national chain shoping, the southwest block of Lake and Minnehaha is an oasis of charming commercial vigor. Arbeiter Brewing, Moon Palace Books, Solcana Fitness, and the Hook and Ladder Theater (and, until its recent closure, The Hub Bike Co-Op) make up a formidable row of destination businesses that’s practically a district unto itself. But no powerhouse block is complete without an eatery, and on this row that place is parked in the street: Jaime Lopez’s Loncheria Los Amigos taco trailer.
Seven days a week, in all but the most extreme conditions, Jaime tows the trailer the few blocks from his longtime home in Howe to a reserved combo of parking spaces in front of the Hook and Ladder Theater. It’s the neighborhood’s only permanent food truck and one of just a few places for quick Mexican staples.
