After closing its flagship location near Lake and Minnehaha this fall, the Hub Bicycle Co-Op is reopening in a smaller area of the same building March 30.

Quick background

The Hub has operated in downtown Longfellow for more than 20 years, beginning in what is now the vacant lot next door and later buying and moving into the two neighboring buildings. It also runs a shop on Oak Street near the U of M and had another in Cedar-Riverside that closed in 2020.

It's a cooperatively run shop that allows workers to buy into ownership after working 1,000 hours. Those worker-owners — there are currently seven — vote on all significant business decisions, and each has the right to veto any decision.
