🏈 Skol! The Vikings house just got a fresh coat of purple
Paul and Mary (not pictured) Uphoff first painted their Minnehaha Avenue home a Vikings-inspired purple more than 30 years ago.

Every autumn, the leaves change color and begin to drop. Every few autumns, the Minnesota Vikings put together a contending football team. And every 10 autumns or so, Mary and Paul Uphoff need to repaint their Vikings-purple home on 41st and Minnehaha.

We're in the midst of all three right now, as the hometown team is fresh off a comeback win last night to improve to a respectable 6-2 and the house just got repainted a new, even Vikings-er shade of purple.

The Uphoffs were already diehard Vikings fans when they bought their Minnehaha Avenue house as a young couple in 1992. One of the first things they did upon moving in was paint the whole thing purple — as an homage to the team, mostly, and to Prince a little bit. (An Uptown native, Paul was a frequent Prince showgoer.) A few friends worried that the move would upset their new neighbors, but the only attention it's brought is the occasional gameday selfie taker.
