📖 Inside the cozy confines of Sister Black Press & Studio

Some buildings just call for certain uses.

Standing inside 4204 34th Street, the old Dock 6 Pottery, with the late afternoon sun dappling the worn hardwood floors, it’s hard to imagine an insurance office or vape shop taking residence there.

It’s the kind of space suited for toiling away hours on some old-world craft, not making a sales call on Zoom, which makes Monica Edwards Larson’s Sister Black Press & Studio a great fit. For 25 years she’s made a career out of printing things the hard way and teaching others the joy that comes from it. Last year, she finally moved the operation out of her home and into the quaint corner building across from Turtle Bread, allowing her to expand her work as both a maker and a teacher, and to give the space the kind of bespoke artisan use it deserves.
