🏗️ Financing coming together for major redevelopment of 38th Street grain elevator

Funding continues to come together for an ambitious redevelopment of the vacant “Checkerboard” grain elevator near 38th and Hiawatha into a pair of apartment buildings, one of which would provide affordable and “deeply” affordable units. The two-acre "Cheatham Apartments" project would be among the largest housing developments in neighborhood history, and the latest in a wave of apartment construction that has worked its way up the industrial Hiawatha rail corridor over the past decade.
