While still likely years away, a development plan for the former site of El Nuevo Rodeo at 27th and Lake Street got a recent boost of funding from Hennepin County.

Local businessman Wilmar Delgado’s proposed “Viva” project calls for a six-story apartment building with street-level retail and office space at 2709 East Lake, which has remained vacant since it was burned and demolished in 2020. Delgado’s home health company Life Fountain would anchor the development, with plans for two other retail spaces on the ground floor and 46 units of affordable housing above.
