🐶 A sneak preview of the Howe's new all-season "pawtio"

The Howe Daily Kitchen and Bar, by design, serves different functions to different people. It’s the type of widely-palatable place you can bring almost anyone and trust they’ll find something to like about the food, drink, and ambience.

But one of the top attractions, for many, is the option to eat semi-outside, year-round, in the company of dogs.

The Howe has made its al fresco offerings and dog-friendliness a center of its brand since it opened in 2016 as a rebranded and elevated version of the former neighborhood dive The Rail Station. (Steve Benowitz bought the former Jimmy's Steaks and Spirits in 2004 and turned it into the Rail Station, the second in what is now an eight-restaurant portfolio known as Craft & Crew.) In addition to sprucing up the patio along Minnehaha Ave, the restaurant repurposed a hefty chunk of its parking lot into an all-weather “pawtio,” where dogs are encouraged and where you can watch the snow and rain fly while eating anything from broasted chicken to boneless wings to vegan carrot lox bagels. Pups are welcomed with a yoga mat, bowl of water, complimentary treats, and a special dog menu with items like "turkey muttloaf" and frozen smoked beef marrow bone.
